Over the course of the primaries and general election, I’ve done as much as I can to help this brother out because I truly believe he will make an excellent president during one of the hardest times for America.

I am just going to list some of the things I’ve done for his campaign. Oh and I am not trying to gloat about what I’ve done because believe me, I know there are other folks who have done so much more than me but this is more of a note to Barack Obama and ‘em to make sure he hooks a sista up when he goes into the Oval Office with Biden. If you want, you can write your note in the comments section. Whether he is a fan of the Jiovanni Project and will actually read our lists before or after reading all the failed policies of the Bush adminstration is ummm…another story.

What I did so far for Obama and why he owes me some tax cuts or a raise in my check or some help with these loan payments …something when he gets into office:

1. Made a few calls and I mean a few. I hate talking on the phone with a script so when I first arrived at the Obama headquarters and they told me that there was no more data entry for me to do and asked if I would like to make calls instead. I gritted my teeth into a tight smile and said okay because I wanted to be a team player since this was my first time walking into a political campaign headquarters. After a bunch of answer machines, hang ups, no thanks and one extremely awkward conversation with an Obama supporter, I decided to change my job to filling out postcards. And everything was good in the world again.

2. I did an improv interview with a college newspaper. Now, I am not used to just getting interviews randomly but I enjoyed this one. I was at an Obama rally that was on the night of the last presidential primary debate. Funny enough, I was going through my exploration of this candidate and didn’t know all the specifics of his policies. I just knew I wanted him to win because I liked his leadership qualities during the primaries so right before two students asked me if I wanted to do the interview, I was reading through the official campaign one pagers on his policies. It was almost as if God was hooking me up with a study session before the pop quiz. I did the interview and I think I sounded like a semi-intelligent representation of a Obama supporter. I was kinda like a politician. If I didn’t know the direct answer, I would skirt around it. I think I would make him proud. ;)

3. Data Entry. After being on the computer most of the day at work, what do I decide to do afterwards? I decide to make sure that in two years, I’ll need glasses by getting on the computer for about 2 to 4 hours, adding names, addresses, emails, etc. to make the workload a little lighter for the amazing full time Obama campaigners.

4. Last but definitely not least, I stood up for eight hours straight to see Obama at a rally today. I was there since 7:15am and he wasn’t going on until 1:15pm. I was the tenth person in line. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to shake his hand but it was still cool to see and hear him speak. It was a generic stump speech besides the whole new pie story that was amusing but it was still exciting to see him in person. I realized the results of standing for eight hours straight when I started to walk out of the arena. My legs were so stiff and my body was kinda sore but it was all worth it to get him in office and to show my support.

When he’s in the White House, it’ll be his turn to help a sista out. And I can’t wait to see him do just that.

  1. Great post. I will read your posts frequently. Added you to the RSS reader.

  2. Me too! At least my parents, because I don’t pay taxes.
